Dick Cheney is unpatriotic pond scum. His latest round of Obama bashing has taken him down to a new level. It’s one thing to disagree with policy, but Cheney has resorted to the lowest level of personal attack on the President.

Cheney addressing the latest attempt by Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab to blow up an airliner in flight said in his acerbic statement:

He seems to think if he gives terrorists the rights of Americans, lets them lawyer up and reads them their Miranda rights, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if we bring the mastermind of 9/11 to New York, give him a lawyer and trial in civilian court, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he closes Guantanamo and releases the hard-core al Qaeda-trained terrorists still there, we won’t be at war.”

Cheney also said Obama outwardly “pretends we aren’t at war” and he repeated his months-long criticism that the new president has made America “less safe.”

Cheney also asked in his patented sardonic way:

Why doesn’t he want to admit we’re at war? It doesn’t fit with the view of the world he brought with him to the Oval Office. It doesn’t fit with what seems to be the goal of his presidency: social transformation, the restructuring of American society.”

Cheney seems to think we are at war with a state. Wrong. We are at war with an ideology. There are no western fronts to line up the artillery and blast them to smithereens, or unload the latest 30,000 Massive Ordnance Penetrator bomb on the communication center. Even Patton couldn’t pull this one off.

These guy’s communication center is a cave somewhere in Afghanistan or Pakistan.

Cheney blasts the current administration for the exact same decision the Bush administration made with Richard Reid, you know, the shoe bomber? Bush was on vacation when that incident happened. 6 days later he made a comment.

Reid was tried, convicted and sentenced in Federal court. Same with Zacarias Moussaoui.

Apparently, Cheney doesn’t have any faith in a U.S. Justice Department when he is not pulling the strings. I guess he is also still pissed that Scooter Libby didn’t get off scott free.

Cheney is trying to put the Obama administration in as bad a light as he can so he hopes the public will forget just what deep shit the Bush administration (with his blessing, of course) put us in. Their administration drove us to the brink of financial insolvency, started a war with a country that had zero to do with the 9/11 attacks, and alienated the U.S. from all but our stanchest allies.

9/11 happened on the Bush/Cheney watch. We should never forget that. They had the intelligence that Bin Laden was going to try something, but they sat on that. Then they blamed Iraq, and started that war and basically forgot about Afghanistan.

White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer wrote on the official White House blog:

It is telling that Vice President Cheney and others seem to be more focused on criticizing the Administration than condemning the attackers…

For seven years after 9/11, while our national security was overwhelmingly focused on Iraq — a country that had no al Qaeda presence before our invasion — Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda’s leadership was able to set up camp in the border region of Pakistan and Afghanistan, where they continued to plot attacks against the United States…

Meanwhile, al Qaeda also regenerated in places like Yemen and Somalia, establishing new safe-havens that have grown over a period of years. It was President Obama who finally implemented a strategy of winding down the war in Iraq, and actually focusing our resources on the war against al Qaeda…

Seven years of bellicose rhetoric failed to reduce the threat from al Qaeda and succeeded in dividing this country. And it seems strangely off-key now, at a time when our country is under attack, for the architect of those policies to be attacking the president.

Strangely off-key indeed. Turn in your U.S. lapel pin Mr. Cheney. If you think our government isn’t doing all that’s humanly possible to protect you, then leave. Your vitriolic partisan bullshit is no longer relevant.

The all knowing and all powerful Rush Limbaugh said on “Fox News Sunday” that President Obama is “pursuing a ‘radical’ agenda that is putting the economy and national security in peril.”

And who should know more about pursuing a radical agenda than Rush Limbaugh. The man can’t even properly vet “news” stories. He reported the “story” of President Barack Obama slamming the Constitution in his college thesis as fact on his show. But after Limbaugh found out the piece was a fake, he didn’t apologize for his mistake, he just said something like “well, it sounds right.”

He calls Obama a “child” driven by his “out-of-this-world ego.”

Rush, I thought you were off the Oxycontin.

Rush goes on to say that “And when they get this health care bill — if they do — that’s the easiest, fastest way for them to be able to regulate every aspect of human behavior, because it will all have some related cost to health care — what you drive, what you eat, where you live, what you do — and there will be penalties for violating regulation. It’s going to be the biggest snatch of freedom and liberty that has yet occurred in this country.”

I guess it does make sense that a fat, drug addicted person might be nervous of the ramifications of health care reform. It might tighten up “doctor shopping”. I can see where Rush might be upset about that. Personally, I can’t wait for the regulation of insurance companies. They have been ripping off the average consumer for years.

Rush, take a look back at how well the “free market” regulated itself in the banking industry. And look at the rate of increase of health care premiums and services over the last 10 years. The average person doesn’t have the millions of dollars like you do to be able buy the best health care. $12,000 a year for premiums is just out of reach for the average worker.

And it’s the average worker who keeps people like you in business.

Remember those lyrics from Arlo Guthre’s “Alice’s Restaurant”?

“And I proceeded to tell him the story of the twenty seven eight-by-ten color glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and the paragraph on the back of each one, and he stopped me right there and said, “Kid, I want you to go and sit down on that bench that says Group W …. NOW kid!!”

And I, I walked over to the, to the bench there, and there is, Group W’s where they put you if you may not be moral enough to join the army after committing your special crime, and there was all kinds of mean nasty ugly looking people on the bench there. Mother rapers. Father stabbers. Father rapers! Father rapers sitting right there on the bench next to me! And they was mean and nasty and ugly and horrible crime-type guys sitting on the bench next to me.”

Now, let’s set aside the Group W irony for a moment.

Mother rapers, father stabbers, father rapers, oh my!

Liz Cheney is a fact stabber, or worse, a fact raper!

She says that W (that would be George W, not Group w) did not want to close Gitmo. Wrong. He said he would like to close it in 2006:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2006-06-14-bush-gitmo_x.htm

She says that her father never made an Iraq to 9/11 connection. Wrong.

In a 2003 interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Cheney said that “the Czechs alleged that Mohamed Atta, the lead attacker, met in Prague with a senior Iraqi intelligence official five months before the attack.” And of course there were many “soft” references to Iraq over the years by Mr. Cheney.

Liz Cheney said on the syndicated Fox News Radio John Gibson Show suggesting President Bush honored America’s heroes with a bit more class than his successor.

I think that what President Bush used to do is do it without the cameras. And I don’t understand sort of showing up with the White House Press Pool with photographers and asking family members if you can take pictures. That’s really hard for me to get my head around…It was a surprising way for the president to choose to do this.”

Wrong. As we know, Bush never made a trip to Dover. Ever. CBS’s Mark Knoller reported yesterday that Obama was the first president to visit arriving dead at Dover during the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq.

Liz Cheney is a fact stabber…a fact raper! I wish she would just go sit down on the Group W bench and just shut the hell up. It’s one thing to debate a position. It’s quite another to pull facts out of your ass.

We’ve had enough “ass pulled” facts over the 8 years of the Bush administration, thank you very much.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney on Wednesday night accused the White House of “dithering” over the strategy for the war in Afghanistan.

Dithering you say Mr. Former V.P.? Better than being a blathering idiot.

So let me get this straight. Terrorists attack the US. Your administration determines that it’s the Taliban that’s responsible. Your administration also determines they are operating out of bases in Afghanistan. Your administration then sends troops to Afghanistan, which like 99.99% of the country supported. The date: 10/07/2001.

Then, your administration decided that Iraq was so much more of a threat and decided to start a war. The date: 03/19/2003.

At the height of the Iraq surge, 26,000 US troops were in Afghanistan and 160,000 in Iraq.

8 years later, and where is Osama Bin Laden? You had him in your sights, and you let him get away. Then, you start the war with Iraq. Weapons of mass destruction and all. What did you find? Nada, squat, zero, zilch. You found an old man in a hole and declared Mission Accomplished. After your administration screwed it up, now the current administration dithers?

The White House must stop dithering while America’s armed forces are in danger. It’s time for President Obama to do what it takes to win a war he has repeatedly and rightly called a war of necessity.”

So this war wasn’t a necessity when you were in office? 6 times the number of troops in Iraq than in Afghanistan? So the Afghan war was for you, what, like a hike in the woods? Why didn’t you take care of business while you were in office.

Please just fade away Mr. Cheney. We have had enough of your blathering nonsense. Your legacy has already been written.

Just go duck hunting…

Rush Limbaugh said it on his show today. He agrees with, sympathizes with and empathizes with the Taliban.

Yeah, but his [Obama's] agenda is to weaken this country, to remake it, and that’s what he’s been rewarded for. How can he now protect us from a ruthless enemy?…

…Our president is a worldwide joke. Folks, do you realize something has happened here that we all agree with the Taliban and Iran about, and that is he doesn’t deserve the award! Now, that’s hilarious. I’m on the same side of something with the Taliban. And that we all are on the same side as the Taliban. But, see, the problem here is not the Nobel Peace Prize. The problem is how we look at the Peace Prize. We legitimatize it by saying, well, it’s a “peace prize.” It’s not a peace prize. It has nothing to do with peace. The Nobel Peace Prize is just an extension of the United Nations objective to destroy the United States. The Nobel Peace Prize is an instrument that is used to influence negatively domestic policy in this country…

…You know, folks, this Obama presidency, now, seriously is looking like some kind of idiot reality TV show. Ozzy Osbourne and his family had that reality TV show. This is what we’re watching here. The whole country has to listen to this crap and watch this crap every day. Every Friday it’s something, either the Olympics or it’s the Peace Prize, every day. We have an amateur president stepping in it every day, day after day, and his crazy friends are out there praising him to the hilt. You know what I’m going to do? Every year the EIB Peace Committee will issue a Screwup Award to the person or persons or group or groups that are the biggest screwups, and this year the award goes to Barack Obama. I am not going to be left out of the award business again. The EIB Peace Committee has spoken.”

Rush Limbaugh is an overweight, prescription drug abusing, ego maniacal piece of pond scum.

But he is doing all of this for the purest of reasons. Money. He said it in an interview with NBC. Ratings = Higher Advertising Rates which equal Money. And he wants all the money he can get. Just check out the ads on his website. But Carbonite for your on-line backup? $54.95 a year? SOS Online Backup was PC Magazine’s Editors’ Choice, and it’s only $34.95 a year!

So it makes you wonder how he really feels about Obama, the Democratic party, African Americans and women.

Probably the same. Money will do that to you. So will Oxycontin.

Obama’s agenda is to weaken the country? No Rush, it’s your agenda. Your fact distorting rants to whip up a minority into an Obama hating frenzy is what emboldens the enemy. The “Tal-ee-bahn”, as you ignorantly refer to them as, uses your rants as propaganda for their cause. Killing Americans.

Are you are proud of that? The majority of us are ashamed of you for that.

Check this out from American Politics Journal:

Limbaugh invented modern hate radio, radio for the stupid and insane, radio for the paranoid and ignorant, radio for those fearful of change and longing for a return to the imaginary “values” of a past America, and radio that liberals love to listen to – because Rush is just one big comedy act to us. Dark humor it’s called.”

It was written over a year ago. Funny how not much changes in the world of conservative talk radio.

But, this is America after all. And he has every right to say it.

Congressman Joe Wilson (aka Addison Graves Wilson, Sr., it starts to make sense already) from South Carolina is disrespectful pond scum.

Yelling “It’s a lie” during the President’s speech when the President was explaining that this plan would not provide government health care to illegal aliens, Congressman Wilson sunk to the lowest point this year by any Republican, and that is a tall order.

What rude, unprofessional behavior in what is the most formal of all comings together of government, a President speaking to a joint session of Congress.

I am sure his mother is ashamed of him tonight. This is the kind of street fighting bullshit that supposedly educated, yet stupid, people stoop to in an effort to stop change, good, bad or indifferent, dead in its tracks.

When you look up ‘buffoon’ in the dictionary now, Joe, sorry, Addison’s picture will be right there.

Here, let me help you:

Another one bites the dust, or spanks his way into oblivion as it were.

Southern California Assemblyman Mike Duvall, R-Yorba Linda, has resigned after he was recorded bragging about sex prior to a committee meeting.

Well, at least it was women he was bragging about.

The comments were captured on tape before the start of a committee meeting. Damn those hot mikes!

Duvall talks about a recent sexual escapade with a woman he says is 18 years younger than him.

“I like spanking her,” he is heard on the videotape.

“She goes, ‘I know you like spanking me.’ I said, ‘Yeah, that’s ’cause you’re such a bad girl.”‘

He then bragged about an affair he said he was having with another lobbyist.

And he profusely apologized about the comments…

I am deeply saddened that my inappropriate comments have become a major distraction for my colleagues in the Assembly, who are working hard on the very serious problems facing our state,” Duvall said.

Deeply saddened over your comments, eh? Having sex with women other than your wife (who presumably doesn’t approve of spanking, maybe that’s the core issue here?) is not what he was apologizing for!

Well, at least you could say he was honest then! I’m sure he was sad that the comments cost him his job, but at least he is not a hypocrite.

And, I guess all of his other “saddened & disappointed” colleagues agree that he is not a hypocrite either, they apparently just didn’t like it that he was talking about “spanking around”:

Assembly Speaker Karen Bass, D-Los Angeles, said: “I am saddened and disappointed in the recent comments made by Assembly member Mike Duvall,” she said in a prepared statement. “There is no question his comments were inappropriate.”

Sam Blakeslee, R-San Luis Obispo said:
“I am terribly disappointed by the situation surrounding Assemblyman Duvall’s comments. The statements he made were inappropriate and unacceptable.”

On Duvall’s Assembly Web site, it states that Chapman University awarded him the Ethics in America Award in 2000 for his “demonstration of the highest standards of ethical integrity” while a member of the Chamber of Commerce team.

He was also named Legislator of the Year in 2008 by the California Attractions and Parks Association, according to his campaign Web site.

Well, they could set up a “spanking exhibit” out there in the park. I’ll bet they could charge $20 a person. Could be a new source of revenue for ole’ cash strapped Californication.

When will they learn…

Here are some tidbits from the former vice president with Chris Wallace of Fox News:

WALLACE: Let me ask you — you say you’re proud of what we did. The inspector general’s report which was just released from 2004 details some specific interrogations — mock executions, one of the detainees threatened with a handgun and with an electric drill, waterboarding Khalid Sheikh Mohammed 183 times.

First of all, did you know that was going on?

CHENEY: I knew about the waterboarding. Not specifically in any one particular case, but as a general policy that we had approved.

The fact of the matter is, the Justice Department reviewed all of those allegations several years ago. They looked at this question of whether or not somebody had an electric drill in an interrogation session. It was never used on the individual, or that they had brought in a weapon, never used on the individual. The judgment was made then that there wasn’t anything there that was improper or illegal with respect to conduct in question…

The key point to me is when he says he knew about the waterboarding as an approved general policy. The Bush administration actually approved torture techniques as a matter of general policy. And, of course, the Bush era Justice Department signed off on it.

If this country needs a “Jack Bauer” moment, then so be it. I guess if I lived in a city where the “dirty bomb” was going to go off in 24 hours, I don’t think many people would object to “enhanced interrogation techniques”. What it doesn’t need is torture as a matter of public policy. Black Ops should be just that, Black Ops. This tape will self destruct in 30 seconds…If you decide to accept this mission and are captured, the US will disavow any knowledge of your operation, you know, Mission Impossible stuff.

The former vice president just comes across to me as Brigadier General Jack D. Ripper in Dr. Strangelove. You know, the delusional commander of a United States Air Force base who initiates a plan to attack the Soviet Union with nuclear weapons, hoping to thwart a Communist conspiracy to “sap and impurify” the “precious bodily fluids” of the American people with fluoridated water, a theory that occurred to him during sexual intercourse, and which he believed to be the cause of his post-coital fatigue.

He was sure pushing for a third war front:

WALLACE: In 2007, 2008, was it a mistake not to take out their [Iranian] program?

CHENEY: I think it was very important that the military option be on the table. I thought that negotiations could not possibly succeed unless the Iranians really believed we were prepared to use military force. And to date, of course, they are still proceeding with their nuclear program and the matter has not yet been resolved.

We can speculate about what might have happened if we had followed a different course of action. As I say I was an advocate of a more robust policy than any of my colleagues, but I didn’t make the decision.

I can see Cheney straddling the bomb and riding it to the ground like a rodeo cowboy, whooping and hollering and waving his cowboy hat.

Man…Could you imagine if Cheney had been president?

And more here…

Oh, and Cheney is also writing a book. What a shock.

Wow…Can you believe it. The former VP ordering the CIA to lie to Congress? My guess is that his response will be, “So”…

I sure hope that Attorney General Holder pursues this aggressively. Cheney can argue National Security all he wants, this is not the way America works.

###

CNN has more here.

And more from the Public Record.

And the LA Times here…

From Alan.com:

Sundays New York Times reports that for eight years Dick Cheney ordered the CIA to withhold information from Congress about an as-yet-unidentified counter-terrorism program.

Mr. Panetta, who ended the program when he first learned of its existence from subordinates on June 23, briefed the two intelligence committees about it in separate closed sessions the next day.

The 1947 National Security Act allows for some leeway as to under what circumstances information can be concealed from Congress. But this further validates Nancy Pelosi’s claims that she was not told the whole truth about waterboarding. However, the CIA is claiming the program in question here did not involve harsh interrogation techniques. And, we can believe them, right?

The Columbia State newspaper (and every other media outlet) is reporting that Gov. Mark Sanford admitted today that his secret trip to Argentina over Father’s Day weekend was to visit a woman he is having an affair with.

“I have developed a relationship with what started as a dear dear friend from Argentina. It began very innocently as I expect many of these things do, just casual email back and forth,” Sanford said. “But here recently this last year developed into something much more.”

###

Well, spring has sprung and love is in the air, just not with the wife.

Another “Christian Family Values” Republican politician admits, shall we say, less than christian family values. Beware that stone you cast, the glass you break may be you own.

At least he has John Ensign to pal around with now.

All this hypocrisy is just killing me…

And Time.com has this for us to peruse.

And more from CNN…

Earlier Wednesday, South Carolina Democratic Party Chairwoman Carol Fowler said in a statement it was the “height of irresponsibility for the governor to walk out on his solemn duty to the people of South Carolina.

“When it comes to the real needs and concerns of South Carolinians, Mark Sanford has been pretty much missing in action for the last six-and-a-half years. But it is not acceptable for him to be actually missing.

“However, as disturbing as it is to walk out on your responsibilities without telling anyone, what’s more troubling is that the governor and his staff have been less than truthful about his whereabouts,” the statement said.
