20 Percent of America Calls Themselves Republicans
Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele on Tuesday was unconcerned that a new Washington Post/ABC News poll indicates just 20 percent of the American public are willing to call themselves Republicans.
Steele said on CNN’s “The Situation Room”:
What I’m concerned about is how they vote…at end of the day you can call yourself whatever you want” – as long voters ultimately choose candidates who favor small government, business-friendly policies.
That’s at the end of the day where I’m focused as a party chairman. On delivering candidates and delivering a message that empowers people and lifts them up, not puts the government in front of them as the president and Democrats in congress are doing now.”
“…at end of the day you can call yourself whatever you want.”
Nicely said Mr. Steele. OK, how about reasonable. Tired of the FudSlinging. Tired of the antics. Tired of obstructionism. Tired of not moving the country forward. Tired of those in power spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt just because. Tired of the same old “stop them at any cost” approach. Tired of politicians asking for forgiveness for their sins.
Must make you proud to be associated with a party where members are no longer willing to publicly announce their affiliation. Doesn’t that tell you anything? Remind you of any parties (political or otherwise) in past?
Time to wake up Mr. Steele. It’s starting to look like hard core Republicans have something in common with lepers of old – real estate, virtual as it is. “Let me show you this great island property. Remote, quiet and best of all, everyone is tanned and thinks alike!”
